October 5th; Tracie Holgate, Yarrawonga P-12

Tracey spoke of her life growing up in Yarrawonga and education at the “Red” School and High school. She emphasized the importance of utilizing the opportunities given such as House captain in Gr 6, Junior SRC in Yr 7 , and although she preferred her horse to homework, she jumped at the chance to raise funds through a Rodeo after a fire at the school. In 1995 she won the Shire Young Achievers Award. After Teacher Training Tracey went to Canada & London but is happier back teaching in a smaller community as Yarrawonga. She teaches Grades 5 & 6 and aims to produce well rounded students with resilience However she still finds that there isn’t much for young women if not into sport or the “Pub, Pot & Parma” crowd. She helped start the AIM breakfasts for women – Acknowledge, Inspire, Mingle. They are held quarterly at the Golf club and have had great speakers – next one in November being her sister Jade who is CEO of Portmans.
