Jan 23 - “Member Behind the Badge”, Peter Viner.

Born in Adelaide , his parents had a large furniture removal business and he was actually driving trucks at the age of 14. Had a long career in the IT Industry. Joined the RC of Adelaide South, experienced the Presidents position twice.  Now retired, caravanning has become the main activity for he and Cheryl. Moved to Yarrawonga where their daughter also resides. Lots of caravanning has been done and more is planned.

May 30th - Rob Wallace - The Person Behind The Badge

Because of an interest in aircraft as a child he then went to Moorabbin Airfield to learn to fly but ended up working with planes.......


May 16th - Greg & Karen Bayne.

Greg & Karen Bayne  are the owners of “Red Baron ASLE” – Advanced Specialist Lifesupport Equipment.- which they operate from Hanger 17 at the aerodrome at Yarrawonga.


May 9th Mick Shadwick - Person Behind The Badge

Mick was born in Yarrawonga and went to school at Sacred Heart until Yr 10 (then Intermediate) then he went to Assumption, Kilmore for 2 years.......


11th April: Jan Tregenza - Volunteering in Kenya

Jan Tregenza is a Diabetes Nurse Educator who works at both clinics in Town. She said that she would to speak about her coming visit to Kenya as a volunteer nurse with “World Youth International”

 Vanessa leader and coach at RYLA Camps,; she challenged the Club to send someone to the next RYLA week in November 2016

The Principal of Sacred Heart College will tell us of the "Building Better Men" program recently conducted at the School.

Nov 16: Aunty Avis - Portsea Youth Camp

Avis Weller aka Aunty Avis has been a helper/counselor at Portsea Camp since 1953.


November 9 - Yvonne Farquharson -The Big Red Kidney Bus

Kidney Health Australia, is a not for profit organization whose Big Red Bus will be in yarrawonga providing  holiday dialysis.

October 19 - District Governor Richard Luke

 The goals for the year he would like for for all Clubs 1. Polio. Continue with giving so that the eradication might continue. 2. Membership – particularly to retain new members with mentoring and support. 3. Foundation. Continued support for Foundation. 


October 5th; Tracie Holgate, Yarrawonga P-12

Tracie helped start the AIM (Acknowledge, Inspire, Mingle) breakfasts for women . They are held quarterly at the Golf club and have had great speakers – next one in November being her sister Jade who is CEO of Portmans.

Tracey Mullins gave an overview of Gorman House Respite Care. 


27th April - Susan Benedyka: Strategic Planning for our Club

Sue Benedyka introduced the concept of a Strategic Plan to members and outlined the need for it.

She distributed sheets and then asked everyone to do a SWOT analysis


13th April - Rob Wallace and friends: Portsea Youth Camp

Rob has been involved with the Portsea Camp over the last 6 years, starting with escorting the children on transport to and from the camp to becoming a Childrens Counsellor and helping run activities at the camp. Our young guest speakers delivered great presentations. 


23rd March- Ian Robins; Commercial Pilot

 Ian retired in 2011 from Singapore Airlines after a long career as a pilot. He wanted to be a pilot since he was 4 after seeing a crop duster in a Tiger Moth.


16th March - Bruce Pigdon: Gorman Park

Bruce gave an interesting account of the history of the Gorman Park, now Alexander Park Committee.
This consists of 100+ acres between the Golf Club and the river. Originally a Crown Land Grant in 1880 gave over 200 acres for the people of Yarrawonga for sport and leisure – this is now “The Grove”


30th March - Darryl Mills: East Timor

 Daryl Mills  RC Dilli and RI Co-ordinator for Timor Leste & ROMAC Co-ordinator 

Daryl spoke about some of the 95 children helped by ROMAC and also gave an example of how a child can be helped here but then succumb to a simple infection when home again.
